All our tartans can be woven in modern colours (darker, deeper, fuller shades), or ancient colours (lighter, softer shades), or reproduction colours (authentically original).

Popular Heavyweight Tartans
These are our most sought-after traditional tartan patterns, plus a few enduring designs of our own creation. We produce these due to popular demand for these much-loved setts in our unique authentic finish.
We believe our 15oz pure 100% new wool is the ideal weight for a kilt; it has a superior feel and pleating to 'mediums' but without the cumbersome weight of a 'regimental' fabric. At 40 threads per inch we weave it more tightly than most industrial mills. This costs us more in yarn and time, but produces a fabric whose smooth and robust qualities you have to feel to truly appreciate.
We produce this on our double width 'flying shuttle' looms, that give the traditional 'natural' cut-cloth look unobtainable with the high speed machinery now used elsewhere.
